Meet The Team Behind the Travel Clinic

Ravi

Ravi Gowda, Founder and Medical Director

Dr. Gowda trained in the Department of Infection and Tropical Medicine in Sheffield, and obtained the Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the School of Tropical Medicine in Liverpool.  Following his junior doctor training, he backpacked his way overland from Australia through South East Asia and eventually to India.

During this time he experienced a variety of terrains: rainforests, mountains, scuba diving in tropical oceans and living with local people in rural as well urban tropical settlements. He is not only an expert in tropical medicine but shares your passion for independent travel, too!

Gemma, Travel Health Specialist Nurse

Gemma has a number of additional qualifications surrounding travel health and infectious diseases. She also enjoys teaching and has recently provided education sessions to healthcare facilities, schools and community groups.

Gemma is also a qualified basic life support instructor and regularly holds sessions here at Travel Klinix. Gemma runs most of our clinics here she says “I love to hear about peoples exciting lives, whether it be an travelling adventure or a new job it’s a pleasure to be a part of protecting people against avoidable conditions.”

Erin Wright, Administrative Assistant

Erin brings a northern charm to the team. Originally from Liverpool, she has an undergraduate degree in Forensic Science, where she developed a keen interest in psychoactive substances and toxicology. She has also received expert witness training for court in these disciplines.

She then turned to pharmaceuticals recently completing a Masters degree in Pharmacology and Drug Discovery at Coventry University. Whilst having a predominant interest in neurological medication, her studies have allowed her to research many relevant topics such as vaccination, malaria medication and herbal medicines used in tropical areas. Aside from studies, Erin spends time volunteering as one of our HIV lay testers and when back in her home town as an occasional carer at the Stroke Association.

Nida Saddique, Administrative Assistant

Nida

A few years after completing her degree, Nida realized that she wanted to be involved in travel health. She enjoyed meeting clients and learning about their travelling experiences.
She has worked closely with nurses to maintain high standards of customer care to all of Travel Klinix’s patients at all times.

Ruth has both a keen interest in health and fitness, and a long-standing love for travel, including completing the first marathon in Sierra Leone in 2012.
